The Norwegian Bakery is an Artisan Baking School that specialises in teaching Sourdough and Norwegian bread baking. It is situated in a beautiful period house full of authentic character. Our evening bread baking classes take place at nearby Terroir Tapas, an eco-aware tapas bar with a wood burning oven. From our very first contact with Anne-Marit we felt valued, comfortable and very welcomed into her home where she runs her Air B&B and bread making courses. Anne-Marit could not have been more thoughtful and accommodating to our needs, my husband is blind, and nothing was an issue for her, including his guide dog Watson, she was very thoughtful and considerate in her approach to teaching and sharing her knowledge and skills with us. Our room was lovely, breakfast was incredible and we learned so many new and useful tips and techniques for improving our bread making. Our whole experience was lovely, it was about having fun and feeling special. We will definitely be returning for more!!!Judy & Stephen, Southampton
Thanks for welcoming me into your home on Saturday I had a fantastic day, learned loads of new things and returned with many fine breads that my friends and family thoroughly enjoyed. I baked another loaf on the Sunday and it came out really well and I am trying to look after my starter and I need to buy some bannetons. Thanks again,Peter, Bournemouth
Just to say thank you for another really enjoyable day on Friday. I’m pleased you were able to sort my two pizza problems, so I look forward to baking better pizzas in the future. I looked when I got home and found that my ice cream cone stove top iron is actually called a waffle iron so I might give that a try too. I hope you and the family have a happy Christmas. I will keep my eye on your web page for future classes.Margaret, Bournemouth
You have such a generous mix of enthusiasm, support, information and, of course, delicious food – plenty to enjoy in your delightful home and lovely bakes to bring home. You have really got me started! Thank you for the comprehensive notes and ‘bakery bits’ gift too – bannetons are on my Christmas list now! I have a couple of loaves rising in the playroom (nice and warm) and happy, well-fed starter; it’s lovely to know I can come back to you for help if things go awry! Warm wishesSue, Bournemouth
We had a lovely day, learnt so much. Also had great food and met lovely people. Anne-Marit is such a great teacher and so enthusiastic . We’re still enjoying our bread, it even went to work on the building site with John for all to try.Debra, Bournemouth
What a wonderful day! I was looking forward to it, but it was even better than expected. Anne-Marit made us all so welcome and spoilt us with gorgeous sourdough waffles as we settled into her lovely bright conservatory to get to know one another. After some baking we had the most delicious lunch, with breads and sweet delicacies to finish. The day went so quickly and was a great combination of activity, learning, fun, feeding and generally enjoying the experience. I feel fully prepared to embark on my own little sourdough baking career now, so thanks again for a really friendly, well run day.Carolann x Camberley
Thank you so much for such a lovely day’s learning new skills. I really enjoyed myself and the pizza was WOW!!! Amazing. Really delicious. You are so generous. Very best wishes.Gail, Bournemouth

I just wanted to say a big thank you for hosting the Norwegian Bakery class last Saturday. I thoroughly enjoyed learning about the traditional recipes, the hands on experience of making my own breads along with your recommendations for successful results. The class was just the right pace, a good mix of learning, practice, baking and tasting in a relaxed atmosphere which helped to make the experience so enjoyable. I certainly feel inspired to attempt some of these recipes myself. Thank you also for sharing the recipes, I look forward to trying these in the next few weeks and will drop you a few pictures of my accomplishments!Bryony, Bournemouth
Just wanted to say a huge thank you for giving me a great insight into Norwegian Baking. Your enthusiasm was infectious and the results of the day delicious. The Kanelsnurrer were a revelation and the first batch made at home didn’t last long at all when I passed them round the office with many asking for a regular supply! Many ThanksAndy, Gosport
I just wanted to say how much I enjoyed yesterday and to thank you again for your excellent baking class. The whole day from the company of the other bakers, the food you served us and, of course, the bread making itself was great from beginning to end. The results of the day, especially the cinnamon buns, were very well received by my family. I have never seen anything disappear so quickly! I would certainly recommend your classes to anyone and hope to enjoy another session in the future.Susan, Bournemouth
Just thought I would drop you a line to say thank you for such an enjoyable day both Emily and I had on Wednesday. Your hospitality was outstanding and you have got both of us hooked on baking bread! I have already bought flour in readiness and we hope to adapt the cinnamon twists for Christmas – I will let you know how we get on! My husband was very impressed with our bakes and said we should certainly do more. Thank you again.Julia and Emily
Absolute fantastic day, good company and Anne-Marit was a brilliant hostess and very informative. I cannot wait to come back.Shirley, Bournemouth
Thank you so much for the sour dough baking course it dispelled all the myths and bad habits I have been following since my self taught attempts. Your presentation was excellent, the course notes comprehensive and the venue homely and welcoming as distinct to a sterile commercial kitchen. Even my wife said how good the bread was so maybe she is now a convert! Thank you and best wishesMark, Swanage
Thank you for a wonderful baking day, you have such a great knowledge and experience of sour dough baking . I really enjoyed taking part in your class in your lovely home and I cannot wait to have a go at home . My partner said it was the best bread he had ever eaten !Julia, Highcliffe
I’ve just spent the most AMAZING day with Anne-Marit on the sourdough baking course. The day was full of baking, information, tips and lots of notes and recipes to take away. Not to mention, my own sourdough starter, two sourdough loaves, pitta bread and more. I learnt so much and I’m so excited to continue baking in my own kitchen. Oh and what a delicious lunch. I would recommend the course 100%. If you do it make sure you have a good appetite because there is so much delicious food to try. Thanks Anne-Marit!Karen, Bournemouth
My husband and I were fortunate enough to be able to take Anne-Marit’s baking class while we were staying at her Airbnb! We enjoyed a great day laughing, sharing stories, learning about baking, and eating an amazing spread of Norwegian waffles, coffee, toasted sourdough with veggies/pesto/halloumi, and dessert. It was our favorite part of our trip down to Bournemouth, and we highly recommend it. It’s been a few weeks since this class, and we are still looking after our starters like they are part of our family! I think I am finally ready to bake with it this week, so hopefully my skills will shine and we can enjoy some delicious sourdough! Thanks so much for your hospitality, Anne-Marit, and for spreading your love.Nga, Croydon
Some friends and I attended a baking course at the Norwegian Bakery and had a wonderful day out! We learnt to make several types of delicious breads. The setting was professional but in a friendly home environment. Anne-Marit is not only a top class baker herself but also an inspirational and wonderful person who makes you feel very at ease in an unfamiliar trade. I can strongly recommend The Norwegian Bakery to anyone who needs some inspiration and who wants to improve their baking skills or just wants a fun day out. I have just booked myself another class, and can’t wait to go back.Maria, Bournemouth
The Sourdough course was the most fantastic day – not only did I get to hone my limited skills in the world of maintaining a starter and baking sourdough but I felt spoilt as well with all of Anne-Marit’s wonderful cooking and hospitality. In the comfort of her warm and inviting kitchen we were subjected to sourdough raspberry and white chocolate bread on arrival which was divine, a lovely lunch with prosecco, and Norwegian waffles during the afternoon! I was so thrilled with my loaves and pittas and appreciated the book of recipes and tips to take away as well as the opportunity to discuss any baking issues that I had. I now feel more confident in my sourdough forays.Jo, Lyndhurst
I attended the sourdough baking course at the Norwegian Bakery and had a great time. I learnt loads and had fun and met some new lovely people. I felt so looked after as we had scrummy homemade bread and food throughout the day with fresh coffee and tea. I have hardly any experience in bread-making and the other ladies on the course had varied experience, two were really looking to improve their already confident abilities. At first I thought I would be left behind but Anne-Marit was very experienced in the way she addressed us all providing us with what we needed to know without feeling inadequate in anyway. I definitely would like to try out more classes in her lovely airy and bright (and warm!) kitchen. It was a great combination of feeling homely and professional!!! Oh and my bread was AMAZING, I had a very happy familVicky, Southbourne
Anne Marit’s knowledge of bread is amazing. She ran a great bread making course where I learnt many new skills in the relaxed atmosphere of her warm kitchen with 3 other lovely ladies. I especially liked how we were all included in each process of the breadmaking and the varieties of products we made. She managed to serve a delicious lunch in addition to excellent teaching. If you want a fun, inspiring and creative day out with friends or by yourself, with a healthy lunch and delicious ‘eats’ to take home, I highly recommend The Norwegian Bakery. I’m looking forward to the sourdough course I’m booked into!Anita, Bournemouth
I went to this amazing baking school in December and had such a fabulous time! We learnt to bake several breads, including bagels and pitta plus a Norwegian bread!! We had a lovely homemade lunch and we were able to take home what we baked!! Anne-Marit was a patient and kind host. I can’t recommend this baking school enough!!Lisa, Bournemouth
I really enjoyed my baking class at The Norwegian Bakery. I already had some baking experience so the advanced class was perfect for me as I learnt a whole range of new skills, and took home lots of delicious bakes that were enjoyed by my whole family. Anne-Marit’s quality of teaching and knowledge was superb, and I highly recommend her classes. The food that was served on the day was also excellent. I’m going back for a sourdough class very soon.Titia, Bournemouth
